Strength After Breast Cancer is a progressive weightlifting program to support breast cancer survivors.

What is StreNgth After Breast Cancer?

Strength After Breast Cancer is a personalised, one-on-one program designed by ALA Accredited Lymphoedema Practitioner, Asako Ford. The program educates breast cancer survivors on slow, progressive weightlifting, which can help prevent or reduce the onset and progression of breast cancer-related Lymphoedema. Participants may also experience increased strength and energy, improved body image, reduced body fat, and maintenance of physical function often impacted after breast cancer.

This program will give you the confidence to exercise safely at home, whenever it works best for you. To gain the most benefit, we suggest practicing twice weekly.

The Program

  • One-on-one sessions every fortnight (4 in total)

  • Lymphoedema Education session

  • Diaphragmatic & Thoracic Breathing Exercise

  • Workout packets and logs

  • Evaluation with ALA Accredited Lymphoedema Practitioner

  • Each session also includes an exercise program which includes warm-ups, stretching, core

training exercises, and weight training using resistance bands.

Investment: $450

Why Does it help?

Muscle contractions naturally increase lymphatic load, which is why it’s important to gradually build up activity to prevent excess fluid accumulation and reduce the risk of lymphoedema. Aim to complete this workout twice per week, allowing at least 48 hours of rest between sessions.
